Founded in 1971, GMI has experienced growth and success providing a wide range of engineering* and environmental services to the government. We have successfully completed more than 4,000 environmental projects in all regions of the globe and in every state. We have more than 27 years of experience providing services to the Department of Defense. The multidisciplinary team of resource specialists on staff effectively integrate engineering, environmental, scientific, and management skills to solve complex and unique problems faced by clients.
GMI is committed to a simple principle: Great service creates satisfied customers. Many of our client relationships exceed 20 years, evidence of the focus we put on customizing our services to meet the needs of each individual client. Each of our engineers, scientists, and program managers has a thorough understanding of engineering standards, regulatory requirements, logistical challenges, and funding constraints, enabling us to provide timely, innovative, and cost-effective solutions.
GMI's scientists with specialized field knowledge use innovative techniques and state-of-the-art equipment to effectively meet client goals. GMI conducts field studies, assessments, and surveys to collect baseline data information that provides its clients with the necessary information to address many types of issues. GMI has field experience in various environments worldwide ranging from basic inventories to complex disturbance studies and is committed to top quality performance in the field.
The Cultural Resources Division of GMI is a nationally recognized leader in the inventory, assessment, and management of cultural resources. We are uniquely qualified to design and direct programs that not only are responsive to clients' needs, but meet the latest federal and state regulations applicable to the proposed action. The diversity of available personnel (archeologists, historians, architectural historians, ethnologists, cemetery specialists, and historic architects) and decades of experience in providing cultural resources services throughout the U.S. contribute to creative solutions for historic property management. We have extensive experience in providing cultural resources input in support of Phase I ESAs, EAs, or EISs. GMI offers a full range of cultural resources services including:
GMI’s natural resources biologists and ecologists have completed a variety of environmental survey projects throughout the U.S. and in several foreign countries. Projects have included small and large wetland delineations, protected species surveys, Section 7 consultation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and underwater and terrestrial noise studies.
GMI uses a variety of methodologies to support project development and operations including:
GMI is a leader in providing NEPA documents to federal and state agencies as well as commercial clients. We have completed more than 1,000 NEPA-related projects, including EISs, EAs, and environmental reviews. Our role in the NEPA process is to produce timely, technically sound NEPA compliance documents that assist clients in accomplishing the goals of their organizations, delivering these services based on our thorough regulatory and regional knowledge. The staff’s awareness of environmental and federal issues of concern potentially affecting the client’s proposed actions is instrumental in the ability to achieve the client’s mission goals.
GMI provides engineering design, construction management, and other A-E services in support of a wide range of government, industry, and commercial clients. We have delivered effective, cost efficient construction services including S/R&M type work at multiple military installations.
GMI’s Environmental Engineering Division provides innovative, cost-effective engineering and hazardous material/waste site investigations. GMI conducts lead-based paint surveys and asbestos abatement design. GMI is experienced in all phases of environmental management, from developing and implementing compliance and pollution prevention programs to investigating potentially contaminated sites. GMI’s capabilities include expertise in assessment of environmental air quality, conduct of noise surveys, and sampling and testing of monitoring wells for groundwater quality.
GMI has a complete, in-house GPS, GIS, and CADD department with full graphics capabilities. GMI has ESRI and ERDAS software for analyzing and distributing both vector and raster GIS images and data in hundreds of formats including most standard CADD and GIS file formats.
Our experience reflects demilitarization, reclamation, recycling, and disposal of jet engines, helicopter engines, aircraft, missiles, tanks, and associated components. The services also apply to other government agencies needing destruction, reclamation, or recycling of other sensitive items and computer parts.
